On the first widespread health threat in the 1970s, currently just over 30,000 new infections are seen each year at British genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics. Over 18,000 of these are women and almost 12,000 are men.
Genital diseases is a contagious disease caused by herpes simplex virus which infect the skin and mucous membranes of the genitals and sometimes around the opening of the rectum. The incubation period is usually about a week, but it can be longer.
The first symptom is a reddish or darkish patch on the genitals or the anus (or lips). This is quickly replaced by one or more blisters, filled with straw colored fluid. there may be tingling or burning. Often time the glands in the groin swell up.
